Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 October 2026. This policy covers the GoodLifeTask apps for Android and iPhone and the website at goodlifetask.com, currently served at dev.goodlifetasks.com (together, “GoodLifeTask”, “we”, “us”).

1. The short version

  • We collect what GoodLifeTask needs to work: your account, the tasks and reminders you add, and — only when you use them — location, photos and voice recordings for the features that need them.
  • We never store document numbers or card numbers, and we never connect to your bank.
  • Photos you use as a reminder stay on your device. Document and timetable scanning happens on your device and nothing from the photo is uploaded.
  • A grocery bill you scan is read on your device and only the food names are kept — never prices, totals or payment details. A photo of your food is sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, only if you agree each time; it is read once and not stored.
  • I Feel Unsafe shares your location — and photos and video clips with sound, while they are on in I Feel Unsafe setup — with your family and the contacts you chose, only during an alert you started. After the alert you can download or delete its photos and video clips; they are deleted automatically 30 days after the alert ends. I Feel Unsafe is not an emergency service.
  • IVAK, the assistant, sends what you type or say to Anthropic only when you use it.
  • We do not sell your personal data. The Free plan shows ads; we ask ad partners for non-personalised ads.
  • You can export your data and delete your account at any time. When you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days.

2. What we collect

Account details. Your name, email address, a securely hashed password (or your Google, Apple or Microsoft sign-in if you choose one), language, time zone, theme and — if you add one — a profile picture. If you choose a symbol for the Religion category tile, we store that choice with your account; it can indicate your religion, so it is visible only to you — never to your family or team, never to our staff in the admin tools — and it is deleted with your account.

What you add to GoodLifeTask. Tasks and reminders (title, notes, date and time, category, repeat rules), lists, and the people you share them with. This can include:

  • Documents: only the name, type, issue date, expiry date and an owner label (for example “Sam’s passport”). We never ask for or keep the document number, and no image of the document is uploaded.
  • Medicines: the name, strength, quantity, low-stock level, expiry and owner label you enter. If you add a schedule, we also keep the dose, unit, how it is taken and the instructions as you typed them from your prescription or label, the times you chose, and what you marked: Taken, Skipped (with the reason you picked, if any) or Snoozed. Markings you type from a tablet are kept as text. Photos of tablets and packets stay on your phone and are never uploaded. GoodLifeTask never gives dosage or medical advice and cannot tell whether a medicine was taken, only whether it was marked in the app.
  • Food: items in your fridge or cupboard, the day you bought them and their use-by dates. When you scan a grocery bill it is read on your device and only the food names you confirm are kept — no prices, totals, store or payment details, and the bill photo is not uploaded. If you choose to have a photo of your food (or a bill) read by AI, you are asked every time; the photo is then sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, read once to list the food in it, and not stored by GoodLifeTask.
  • Bills and subscriptions: the name, price, how often it renews and the next date. We never ask for card or bank account numbers.

Family features. If you create or join a family: membership, messages you send in family chat, shared tasks, and family alarms, including a voice recording if you add one to an alarm.

Contacts you add. The names, phone numbers and email addresses you type in for I Feel Unsafe or for call and email reminders. GoodLifeTask does not read your phone’s address book.

I Feel Unsafe. When you start an I Feel Unsafe alert: your location while the alert is active, photos from your phone’s front and back cameras while photos or video are on in I Feel Unsafe setup (video is on by default) — taken every 15 seconds from both cameras after you tap the I Feel Unsafe button during an alert (twice as often after two taps), for up to 1 hour, or when you tap “Send photos now” on the web — short video clips with sound while “Video clips with sound when I hold the button” is on (recorded on your phone while you hold the I Feel Unsafe button, from both cameras at the same time on phones that support it, with a visible recording indicator), a log of the alert, and the family members or contacts you choose to alert. Your contacts get one message with a private link to see your location, photos and clips during the alert and for 24 hours after it ends. After the alert ends, you can download all its photos and video clips in one zip file or delete them from the I Feel Unsafe page on the website (“Past alerts”); we remind you by email and push notification 24 hours after it ends, and they are deleted automatically 30 days after the alert ends. You are responsible for recording lawfully where you are. I Feel Unsafe is not an emergency service — it does not contact the police, ambulance or fire services. See the I Feel Unsafe Privacy Notice for exactly what I Feel Unsafe collects, who receives it and how long it is kept.

IVAK, the assistant (web). What you type or say to IVAK. Only when you use IVAK, the text is sent to us and to Anthropic, our AI provider, to work out what you asked and turn it into tasks and reminders. If you speak, your browser’s speech service (for example Google in Chrome) turns your voice into text first and may process the audio on its servers. IVAK is not available in the phone apps for now. IVAK never gives medical or dosage advice.

Connected calendars or email. If you connect Google or Microsoft, we store the access tokens (encrypted) to read the events or messages you asked us to turn into tasks. You can disconnect at any time in Settings.

Referrals. Your referral code, who joined with it and your points.

Suggestions you send us. The text of any idea or feedback you send through the app.

Technical data. Push-notification tokens for your devices, basic device and app information, IP address and security logs (for example sign-in attempts) that keep the service safe and working.

Payments. When paid plans can be bought, the payment provider handles your payment details; we receive only your plan, its status and dates.

We do not use analytics or tracking tools that follow you across other apps or websites.

3. How we use it

  • To run GoodLifeTask: store your tasks, send your reminders and notifications, and keep your devices in sync.
  • To run family features and I Feel Unsafe: share what you choose with your family and alert them when you ask for help.
  • To send account emails and messages you ask for (sign-up, password reset, reminders by email or SMS).
  • Suggestions: we count how many people add the same task wording (with numbers, email addresses, phone numbers and links removed) to suggest common tasks to others. Wording is only reviewed once at least five people have used it, never with names, and you can switch this off in Settings → Privacy, which also removes your past contributions.
  • To keep GoodLifeTask secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
  • To show ads on the Free plan and to manage paid plans and free trials.
  • To follow the law.

Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on: providing the service you asked for (contract); your consent (for example location, camera and microphone, which you can withdraw in your device settings); our legitimate interest in keeping GoodLifeTask secure and suggesting common tasks (which you can switch off); and legal obligations.

4. Phone permissions

The app asks for each permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can say no, or change your mind later in your phone’s settings; the rest of the app keeps working.

  • Location, including in the background: only for I Feel Unsafe, so the family members or emergency contacts you chose can see where you are while an alert you started is active, even if your phone is locked. Location is not used at any other time, and GoodLifeTask does not track places or use geofencing.
  • Camera: I Feel Unsafe photos and video clips from the back and front cameras during an alert you started, while they are on in I Feel Unsafe setup — photos every 15 seconds from both cameras after you tap the I Feel Unsafe button (twice as often after two taps), for up to 1 hour, and video clips while you hold it, from both cameras at the same time on phones that support it (clips are recorded only while the I Feel Unsafe screen is open on your phone); you stop the alert by holding “I’m safe” for 2 seconds; your profile photo, and reading the dates on a document or timetable on your device, and scanning a grocery bill or your food. Document, timetable and grocery-bill photos are read on your device and never uploaded. A food photo is sent to Anthropic for reading only if you agree each time, and is not stored.
  • Microphone: recording a voice for a family alarm, voice input, and the sound in I Feel Unsafe video clips during an alert you started, if you turned video clips on. If you don’t allow the microphone, I Feel Unsafe clips are recorded without sound.
  • Photos: to choose a profile picture, a reminder photo, a background photo, a timetable or a grocery bill to scan, or a photo of your food. Your profile picture is uploaded; a food photo is sent for AI reading only when you agree, each time, and is not kept; the others stay on your device.
  • Notifications, alarms and full-screen alerts: to deliver reminders and family alarms on time.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only:

  • With people you choose — your family members, or the people you share a task with.
  • With service providers that run GoodLifeTask for us, under contracts that limit them to that purpose: DigitalOcean (hosting and database), Resend (email), Twilio (SMS, where used), Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service (notifications), Anthropic (processes what you type or say to IVAK, only when you use it, and reads a food photo once to list the food in it, only when you agree each time — the photo is not stored), and Google AdMob (ads on the Free plan). When paid plans can be bought, the payment provider (for example Stripe, the Apple App Store or Google Play) will handle payments.
  • With sign-in providers (Google, Apple, Microsoft) if you choose to sign in with them.
  • When the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people or the service.
  • If GoodLifeTask is sold or merged, in which case this policy continues to protect your data.

I Feel Unsafe alerts go only to your family members or the contacts you picked. I Feel Unsafe is not an emergency service. We do not contact emergency services on your behalf, and alerts can be delayed or fail; in an emergency, call your local emergency number. See the I Feel Unsafe Privacy Notice.

6. Advertising

The Free plan shows ads from Google AdMob. We ask AdMob for non-personalised ads and send it no personal information from your account — no name, email, tasks or location. AdMob may still use device identifiers and your IP address to show, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud; see Google’s policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Where required (for example in the EEA and the UK), the app asks for your consent before ads are shown. Paid plans have no ads.

7. Families and shared data

Anything you put in a family space — shared tasks, family chat, shared food and medicine lists, family alarms and I Feel Unsafe alerts — can be seen by the other members of that family. Personal tasks stay private unless you share them. If you leave a family, you lose access to its shared content and it loses access to yours.

Family alerts for medicines (Family plan, off by default). Only if you turn them on and agree: when one of your scheduled doses is not marked as taken within the time you chose, the family members you pick get a notification and an email with your name, the medicine’s name and strength, and the scheduled time. A parent or guardian who owns the family can turn this on for a child member. Anyone receiving these alerts can stop them from the link in the email.

8. Security

  • All connections are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
  • Passwords and sign-in tokens are stored only as secure hashes.
  • I Feel Unsafe photos and video clips are encrypted with a key unique to your account and can be opened only through signed links that expire. I Feel Unsafe locations, contacts and alert records are protected by our normal server security but are not separately encrypted.
  • Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

9. Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while your account is open. You can delete individual items at any time.

Deleting your account: on your phone, go to Settings → Delete Account; on the web, go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. You can also email privacy@goodlifetask.com from the address you signed up with. Deleting your account signs you out everywhere and stops all notifications straight away.

Your data is then deleted automatically within 30 days: your account, tasks, lists, documents, medicines, food, subscriptions, messages, photos, recordings and I Feel Unsafe data. During those 30 days you can contact support to restore your account. If you own a family, it passes to its longest-standing adult member, or is deleted if you are the only member. After the 30 days we keep only a minimal record of the deletion, for up to 7 years, for security, fraud prevention, disputes and legal obligations: a scrambled one-way code made from your email address (not the address itself), your plan, language and time-zone settings, the dates you joined, last signed in and deleted your account, and how many items the account held. It contains no name and none of your content, and it is deleted after 7 years. We also keep anything else the law requires (for example payment records), only for as long as it requires.

Security logs are kept for a limited time and then removed.

10. Your choices and rights

  • See and download your data: Settings → Export Data on the web gives you a copy of your account and items as a file. For anything else, email us.
  • Correct it: edit your profile and items in the app.
  • Delete it: as described above.
  • Withdraw permissions: turn off location, camera, microphone, photos or notifications in your phone’s settings.
  • Object, restrict or complain: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California law), you may have further rights. Email us to use them. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

We will not treat you differently for using your privacy rights.

11. Children

GoodLifeTask is not directed at children under 13, and children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country, such as 16 in parts of Europe) should not create their own account. Younger family members should use GoodLifeTask only with a parent or guardian who manages the family. If you believe a child has given us personal data without permission, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Where your data is stored

Our servers are in the United States. If you use GoodLifeTask from elsewhere, your data is transferred there and protected as described in this policy, using safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where the law requires them.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and if the change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.

14. Contact us

GoodLifeTask is operated by Kavitha Ramesh, who is responsible for your personal data (the data controller).
