I Feel Unsafe Terms of Use

Last updated 10 October 2026. These terms cover I Feel Unsafe, the personal safety alert in the GoodLifeTask apps and website. They add to our main Terms of Use. How I Feel Unsafe handles your data is in the I Feel Unsafe Privacy Notice.

I Feel Unsafe is not an emergency service

I Feel Unsafe alerts your family and the contacts you chose. It never contacts the police, ambulance, fire or any emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (for example 911, 112 or 999) first.

1. Not an emergency service

I Feel Unsafe is a personal safety alert for your family and chosen contacts. It does not replace emergency services. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency number. Use I Feel Unsafe as well, not instead.

2. How I Feel Unsafe works

  • Setting up: you set I Feel Unsafe up once on the GoodLifeTask website — you accept these terms, add at least one contact (up to 5) and choose how each contact is alerted, and you can change any of it there later. The phone app only switches I Feel Unsafe on and off. If you are a member of a family in GoodLifeTask, your first press records that you accept these terms and adds the other family members as your contacts.
  • Starting: on your phone, tap the I Feel Unsafe button once — the alert starts straight away. On the web, tap I FEEL UNSAFE — ALERT NOW; the web asks you to confirm first. There is no shake, voice or automatic trigger. You can have one open session at a time; pressing again re-opens it.
  • During an alert, on your phone: tap the I Feel Unsafe button once to take a photo with both cameras every 15 seconds, or twice to take photos twice as often; tap it 3 times quickly for a high alert; hold it to record video clips. Photos and video need to be turned on in I Feel Unsafe setup (see section 5).
  • High alert: press the button 3 times within 5 seconds on your phone, or tap Escalate on the web. Your contacts get an immediate HIGH ALERT, then a location update every 60 seconds by email and SMS.
  • Stopping: on your phone, hold the separate “I’m safe” button for 2 seconds — tapping the I Feel Unsafe button never stops an alert. On the web, tap “I am safe”. If you have set a PIN (4–8 digits), it is needed to stop the session. Failed attempts are logged and limited.
  • Time limit: a session ends automatically after 6 hours, and your contacts are told it timed out.
  • No test mode: there is no practice or drill mode. “Send a test alert” sends a real alert to your contacts. Tell them before you try it.

3. Your responsibilities

When you use I Feel Unsafe, you agree to:

  • keep your contacts’ names, emails and phone numbers accurate and up to date;
  • tell each contact that they may receive I Feel Unsafe alerts from you, and get their agreement before adding them — we do not ask them for you;
  • tell your contacts that replies to the alert email do not reach you, so they should contact you another way;
  • not send false or prank alerts, or use I Feel Unsafe to frighten or harass anyone;
  • use I Feel Unsafe only on your own phone and for your own safety — not to track, photograph, record or watch another person without their knowledge;
  • if you turn on video clips, use them lawfully where you are — some places require everyone’s consent before sound is recorded — and use the clips only for your safety;
  • keep your phone charged and switched on, and keep location, camera, microphone and notification permissions turned on, if you want I Feel Unsafe to work when you need it.

4. Delivery is not guaranteed

We cannot guarantee that an alert, location update, photo or video clip will be recorded, delivered, delivered on time, or seen. Delivery depends on things outside our control, including:

  • your phone’s network connection and your contacts’ networks;
  • email, SMS and push providers, and Apple and Google;
  • the permissions you have given, and battery-saving settings;
  • your phone being switched off, out of battery or damaged.

On the web, location is shared only while the page is open. A session can start without a location. We do not guarantee that any contact will read or act on an alert.

5. Photos and video clips

Photos are taken only while “Photos when I tap the I Feel Unsafe button during an alert” or video clips are on in I Feel Unsafe setup on the website (photos are off by default; video clips are on by default), and you have accepted these terms (version of 9 October 2026 or later). Then, during an alert, a tap on the I Feel Unsafe button takes a photo with both cameras every 15 seconds — the front camera shows you and the back camera shows what is around you. Two taps take photos twice as often (two shots every 15 seconds). Photos continue until the alert stops or you change mode, for up to 1 hour. On the web, if the photos switch is on, your browser takes one photo with each camera when you start I Feel Unsafe there and on the first high alert; “Send photos now” during a session does the same whenever photos are allowed. Your phone shows its camera indicator while photos are taken. At most 1,200 photos are kept per session. The photos are shared with your contacts and family through links that expire; the private alert page shows the latest ones.

Video clips with sound are recorded only while “Video clips with sound when I hold the button” is on in I Feel Unsafe setup on the website — it is on by default once you have accepted these terms, and you can switch it off. When it is on and you hold the I Feel Unsafe button on your phone, your phone records 10-second video clips with sound for 2 minutes — from both cameras at the same time on phones that support it, otherwise switching between the back and front cameras. “Record more” on your phone adds another 2 minutes, up to 4 minutes of recording ahead. Recording runs only while the I Feel Unsafe screen is open on your phone — never in the background or on the locked screen. If you have not allowed the microphone, clips are recorded without sound. At most 96 clips are kept per session. Your phone shows that it is recording for the whole time, and its own camera and microphone indicators. Clips recorded before you stop the alert may still be uploaded for up to 30 minutes after it ends. Your contacts get one message with a private link where they can watch the clips while the alert is active and for 24 hours after it ends; your family can also watch them from the family chat.

Photos during an alert and video need these terms (version of 9 October 2026). If you accepted an earlier version, I Feel Unsafe keeps working — your contacts still get your alerts and location — but no photos or video are taken from your phone until you accept these terms in I Feel Unsafe setup.

Photos and video clips may show other people, their voices, or private places. You are responsible for using I Feel Unsafe lawfully where you are, including local rules about photographing or recording other people. Some places require everyone’s consent before sound is recorded. Do not use I Feel Unsafe photos or clips for anything other than your safety.

You can turn photos and video off at any time in I Feel Unsafe setup, or by turning off the camera permission on your phone (turning off only the microphone records clips without sound). Your alerts keep working without them. After an alert ends you can download all its photos and video clips, or delete them, from the I Feel Unsafe page on the website (“Past alerts”); otherwise they are deleted automatically 30 days after the session ends. How they are stored and shared is in the I Feel Unsafe Privacy Notice.

6. Availability and changes

I Feel Unsafe can be unavailable at times — for example during maintenance, outages or problems with our providers. We may change, improve or remove I Feel Unsafe features. If we change what I Feel Unsafe collects or who receives it, we will update the I Feel Unsafe Privacy Notice first, and tell you in the app or by email if the change is significant.

7. No warranty and limits on liability

I Feel Unsafe is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it will work without interruption or error, or that it will keep you safe. The disclaimers and limitation of liability in our main Terms of Use apply to I Feel Unsafe, including for a missed, late or failed alert. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

8. Stopping using I Feel Unsafe

You can stop using I Feel Unsafe at any time: remove your contacts, turn off its permissions in your phone’s settings, or delete your account. Deleting your account deletes your I Feel Unsafe data, as the I Feel Unsafe Privacy Notice explains. We may suspend I Feel Unsafe for an account that sends false alerts or misuses it, as our main terms allow.

9. How these terms fit with our main terms

These I Feel Unsafe terms are part of our main Terms of Use. Everything in the main terms applies to I Feel Unsafe too. If the two conflict on something about I Feel Unsafe, these I Feel Unsafe terms apply.
